adopt certain religious idiosyncrasies
when we speak to or about God?
We learn specific "in words" and mannerisms
that accompany our prayers and testimonies.
These mark us as part of a certain religious subculture,
and can needlessly hinder our witness to the world.
The following brief video humorously illustrates this point.

The funny (or sad) thing about this is that I have known people who do this. From now on ... it's the slap in the head.

ReplyDeleteMy son struggles with severe and disabling Tourettes. His motor tics impair his mobility. He is crippled by his struggle with coprolalia(the cursing tic). This hurts my heart to watch because Tourettes devastates our family and my son. I was googling how a Christian can cope with this disabling condition. Maybe you should call this something else. Tourettes is a disabling disorder that greatly humiliates and destroys the self esteem of those who suffer. You would not spoof epilepsy or diabetes. It is insensitive.
ReplyDeleteI too came across this while searching for help with my son who suffers from TS. You should be ashamed of yourselves for using TS in jest!
